Asked Questions

Noise with gearbox2020-12-21T14:33:25+01:00

During operation, a loud noise is noted coming from the gearbox:

  • First of all, check that the gearbox has not suffered shocks during installation (check for any abrasions of the paint or damage to the surfaces)
  • Check the correct positioning of the gearbox on its support or bedframe, making sure that all the fixing bolts have been tightened
  • In case of gearbox with external support, make sure about right alignment of the three fixation points (gearbox carter and external support -max tolerance ± 1.0 mm) ; check that the installation has been carried out according to the specific instructions, supplied with the gearbox, for correct positioning of the external support.
  • In the case of VVVF motors, check the correct setting of the inverter parameters according to the lift characteristics and, if necessary, repeat auto-tuning procedure: often an incorrect setting is source of “electrical” noises which can be confused with “mechanical” noises.
  • In the case of VVVF motors: it is possible to perform a couple of runs with the motor connected directly to the mains, without an inverter (pay attention to the position of the cabin in the shaft). If the noise disappears, research the cause of the noise in inverter parameters setting.
  • Contact our after-sales service, describing the problem and indicating the gearbox serial number and, if possible, provide photos or videos of the problem (preferred).
Vibrations with gearbox2020-12-28T09:00:48+01:00

During operation, vibrations from the gearbox are noted:

  • First, check that the gearbox has not suffered shocks during installation (check for any abrasions of the paint or damage to the surfaces)
  • Remove the ropes from the traction pulley and check if the vibrations persist.
  • Check the correct positioning of the gearbox on its support or bedframe, making sure that all the fixing bolts have been tightened.
  • In case of gearbox with external support, make sure about right alignment of the three fixation points (gearbox carter and external support -max tolerance ± 1.0 mm) ; check that the installation has been carried out according to the specific instructions, supplied with the gearbox, for correct positioning of the external support.
  • In the case of VVVF motors, check the correct setting of the inverter parameters according to the lift characteristics and, if necessary, repeat auto-tuning procedure: often an incorrect setting is source of vibrations.
  • In the case of VVVF motors: it is possible to perform a couple of runs with the motor connected directly to the mains, without inverter (pay attention to the position of the cabin in the shaft). If the vibration disappears, research the cause of vibration with inverter parameters setting.
  • Contact our after-sales service, describing the problem and indicating the gearbox serial number and, if possible, provide photos or videos of the problem (preferred).
Oil leaks with gearbox2020-12-28T09:01:45+01:00

There are oil drops on the floor / frame or onto the gearbox:

  • Check oil level from gauge: overfilling can be the cause of leakage during gearbox functioning.
  • Sometimes the oil can come out during transport and/or installation phases, in case gearbox is tilted by more than 25°: carefully clean the surface removing oil drops to monitor afterwards no more oil drops are noted.
  • Identify exactly the origin of the leakage (“leakage area”) and contact our after-sales service, describing the problem with gearbox serial number.
Gearbox installation2020-12-28T09:02:35+01:00

What to consider if I need to install a new gearbox:

  • Before proceeding with the installation, carefully read the use and maintenance manual supplied with the gearbox
  • The gearbox must be in a dry and not dusty place.
  • The gearbox must be in a ventilated room, to allow airflow for motor heat dissipation.
  • The gearbox must be in a room with temperature in between 5ºC and 40ºC. For different temperature values, contact our after-sales service
Gearbox replacement2020-12-28T09:03:20+01:00

When to consider substitution of old gearbox:

  • After many years of operation, it may be necessary to replace an old gearbox, both to ensure safety of the lift and to comply with updated guidelines issued by the European Community. Another reason for replacing an old winch can be the improvement of comfort and leveling accuracy, by means of inverter. Whatever the reason, contact our sales service providing lift specifications and old gearbox data: we will prepare customized technical selection compliant with EN-81 Standards.
